About Dennis Wong...
Dennis Wong is a strategist, entrepreneur and business attorney with over 25 years of experience in business, finance and the law. He specializes in assisting entrepreneurs and high growth companies with their legal needs, including contracts, joint ventures, partnerships, licensing, distribution agreements, employer-employee issues, stock transactions, buy/sell agreements, leases, real estate transactions, and other business related matters, including risk evaluation and due diligence reviews.
Mr. Wong represents foreign companies and investors seeking to establish a physical presence in the United States by assisting with their corporate structuring, strategic planning, strategic alliances relationships, contracts, immigration visas, and related business and personal matters. Mr. Wong also represent investors and companies seeking investment and trade opportunities in the emerging market countries around the Pacific Rim, especially China, by identifying business opportunities, joint venture and/or strategic alliance partners, and to negotiate and prepare agreements between the parties.
Some of Mr. Wong's key strengths are the ability to breakdown complex business and legal issues into their key elements, to craft meaningful solutions with the aim towards achieving his clients' primary objectives; and to be able to explain the same to the clients in plain English. Mr. Wong's intention is to create mutually beneficial long-lasting relationships among the parties with minimal conflicts, or if that is not possible, then to create a withdrawal strategy that allows the parties to disengage from their existing relationships with minimal conflicts and litigation. This allows the clients to conserve their resources to direct their energies and resources towards growing their businesses.
Mr. Wong began his career in commercial litigation, patent and trademark litigation, toxic torts and personal injury with a nationally prominent plaintiff's firm. His practice subsequently evolved into more transactional work representing individuals and companies doing cross-border investments and business between the United States and Asia, with a special emphasis on China. Mr. Wong has represented startup Internet and technology companies during the dot com period, and boutique real estate and mortgage companies in California.
Mr. Wong is an adjunct professor at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, California where he teaches business, business law and entrepreneurship, and where he volunteers his time as the Co-director of the Foothill Entrepreneurship Center and its business incubator. Mr. Wong sits on the board of the Alliance for Community Development, a nonprofit organization of business and community leaders who helped to create a $75 million "double bottom line" venture capital fund managed by JP Morgan, H&Q. Mr. Wong was a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business in 1995 where he served as Co-Chair of International Trade for the California delegation. Mr. Wong publishes articles and gives public lectures under the marketing theme "Things Your Lawyer Never Told You" about the law and business issues.
Mr. Wong obtained his J.D. from the University of San Francisco, his MBA from the Thunderbird School of International Management, and his B.A. in psychology and political science from the University of Rochester.
